Why This Resource Exists
Virginia law makes many government records available, but release information is split among offices. Rockingham/Harrisonburg Regional Jail documents its own custody episode. Middle River Regional Jail separately holds records it created for people housed there on local cases. The Virginia Department of Corrections runs a statewide locator for people in state custody or active community supervision, and the courts keep the orders behind bond, dismissal, sentencing, and release. Federal sentenced-prisoner results belong to the Bureau of Prisons system.
This site organizes those release records, locator steps, supervision checks, and request routes in one place. It also explains a key Rockingham County fact: disappearance from one live jail channel does not prove community release. A transfer to the other regional jail, VADOC, or another custodian may have ended only one agency’s custody.
