Rockingham County VINE Coverage
Virginia Jail VINE is the named-person notification route for Rockingham/Harrisonburg Regional Jail and other participating local and regional jails. Search through VINELink and choose Virginia, or use the statewide phone channel at 800-467-4943. TTY service is available at 866-847-1298. The supplying jail sends the status event, so the agency name attached to the result is part of the evidence.
For a Rockingham County or Harrisonburg case, the person may be at R/H Regional Jail or Middle River Regional Jail. VINE can report an event from the participating source, but it is not the court file and it is not a permanent release archive. It also does not cover federal BOP custody. A person who moves from local jail to VADOC enters a different notification layer.

Rockingham VINE Release Fields
Available detail depends on what the source jail sends. Official Virginia materials support the listed fields and event types, but they do not promise that every Rockingham County result will display every item. Match the event to the person and the correct jail before acting on it.

VINE is an alert service. The jail’s booking and release record is more durable proof of its recorded date, time, and disposition. A court case can explain bond, dismissal, sentence, or another order, but its docket time is not necessarily the physical exit time. When a transfer appears, search the named receiving system.
Register Rockingham VINE Alerts
Registration begins inside the matched person record. Choose “get notified” or the current equivalent and select an offered channel. Telephone, text, email, TTY, and app options can have different confirmation steps. Complete the instructions for the channel that was selected and keep the registration details in a safe place.

Three Virginia Notification Systems
Virginia requires separate enrollment for Jail VINE, VADOC NAAVI, and sex-offender-registry alerts. This Rockingham-specific distinction matters when a person crosses from a regional jail into state custody. A local jail alert does not follow that person automatically. The new custodian and eligible notification program control the next notice.

The VADOC notification program can provide anticipated-release and actual-release notices for eligible state-custody registrations. It can also report transfer, name change, work release, escape or recapture, death, and parole events. Anticipated notice is not the same as actual release. NAAVI notices end after VADOC release.
VADOC generally sends an anticipated-release notice about 30 days before the projected event and issues an update when that date changes. A projected date can move, so the early notice should be used for preparation rather than as proof that release occurred. The actual-release notice means the person is no longer in VADOC custody. It does not say whether probation, parole, a local warrant, or another legal restraint applies afterward.
A transfer from R/H or Middle River to VADOC requires a new state-custody registration by an eligible victim. The prior Jail VINE enrollment does not convert into NAAVI enrollment. A later transfer back to a participating jail can require another Jail VINE registration. Keeping the DOC number, local booking number, and agency names separate helps prevent an alert for one custody episode from being misread as an alert for another.
The Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is narrower. A registry hit means the person has a legal registration duty; it does not serve as a release record. An incarcerated marker means the person has not entered the community, while no result says nothing about a person without a registration duty.
Confirm Rockingham VINE Events
A released result or call means the source jail posted that event. Start confirmation with the named agency. For R/H Regional Jail, call 540-564-3800. Check Middle River separately when the local case may be housed there. If the event says transfer or the sentence points to state authority, use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator.
VADOC accepts a seven-digit DOC ID or at least the first three letters of the first name with the full last name. It updates daily and warns that results can be wrong or stale. A prison or local-jail location shows continued confinement. A District 39 or community-supervision result can show that the person left prison but remains under VADOC authority. No result does not prove final discharge.
Read the relevant court case as well. Rockingham Victim Notification Support
The Harrisonburg Police Victim Services Liaison Unit is a local follow-up layer. It lists jail and local court contacts that can help a person reach the office tied to the event. It does not replace a VINE registration, supply a historical release list, or convert a transfer alert into proof of freedom.
A useful escalation path is short. First, preserve the alert details and identify the supplying jail. Next, contact that jail or the local victim-witness office for the appropriate route. Then check the receiving custodian when transfer is possible. For state custody, eligible victims must enroll with NAAVI through VADOC Victim Services rather than rely on the old jail registration.
Federal cases require another path. VINELink does not track BOP inmates, so use the official BOP locator for a federal custody or release question. Immigration detention also uses its own locator. Neither system should be searched without a factual reason to think that authority received the person.
The same boundary applies after a local alert. A result that says “released” should be checked against the court case and any known receiving authority. If VADOC shows a prison, local-jail, or institutional assignment, custody continues. If it shows District 39 or another community-supervision office, the person is outside prison but not fully discharged. If all public searches fail, request the existing release record from the agency that created it.
Note: Separate enrollment protects the accuracy of each notice by tying it to the agency that holds or tracks the person.
